Demon Princess Reign or Shine Michelle Rowen Books
Nikki is your average, normal teenager, dealing with normal teen stuff-- high school, crushes, and so on. But her "normal" life takes a sharp tun into Crazyville when she meets a strange, but handsome, guy named Michael. Michael claims that Nikki is a half-demon Princess, daughter of the demon king of the Shadowlands. Nikki knows virtually nothing about her dad; he left Nikki and her mom even before Nikki was born. And now some weird guys comes to tell her that not only is he still out there, but that he is a demon king? Nikki writes Michael off as crazy and tells him to leave her alone. However, weird, supernatural things start happening to her and she cant help but wonder if maybe Michael wasn't so wrong after all. Also, she cant ignore that undeniable connection she senses every time she is near Michael. Nikki finds herself thrust into a world she didn't know existed and forced to make a decision that could save or destroy her father's kingdom.I've actually had Reign or Shine for a while, but I just got around to it now, and I can truthfully say that I thoroughly enjoyed it! Nikki was a very spunky and fierce character, which I loved about her. Throughout most of the book she was a very strong, and smart, character.
Michael... *swoons* He was very mysterious and even kinda creepy at the beginning, but as we got to know him, he really grows on you! He is very sweet and very protective, which I absolutely love about him!
Nikki's dad surprised me as much as he surprised Nikki, and that is certainly not a bad thing. I actually really liked him and I really want to know more about him and this whole other realm he watches over.
There was one thing about the book though... the so-called plot twist? Yeah, I saw coming from hundreds of pages away! I figured out what was going on, right down to the last detail, even before Nikki started to put the pieces of the puzzle together. It's unfortunate, really, since I like being surprised =/
Overall, however, I really liked the story... I thought it was very fun with all sorts of magical things going on, and it kept me hooked all the way till the end. In fact, I read it in one sitting! :D I cant wait to read book two and see how Nikki deals with all this new stuff.

Demon Princess Reign or Shine Michelle Rowen Books Reviews
Nikki Donovan has just learned that her family history is, shall we say, not normal. Her father is a demon, and king of a realm called the Shadowlands. This makes Nikki a half demon, with sizeable powers of her own. Kind of puts a wrinkle in her 'normal' life. )
The plot was too easy to map out, the twists at the end were either predictable or contrived, and this is the kind of story where you just *knew* there was going to be a happy ending - there's nothing wrong with that, but it adds to the predictability.
The characters aren't really consistent or fleshed out, and I would have liked to see more of Melinda (I suspect she'll be in future books). Still, I found myself enjoying the story.
Overall, I enjoyed it. This is a quick, fun, and light read that I think tweens will love.
Nikki, while adjusting to moving to yet another town, discovers that she is half human, half demon. As if moving, finding new friends and trying to fit in isn't hard enough! The first 1/3 of the book is her trying to believe this information that's been delivered by a gorgous servant of her father's, Michael After that the story moves along and we meet Nikki's father, demon king of the Shadowlands. While this kind of story sounds like it might dark it's really a light, humorous and fast read. (It's pretty predicable too and I'm not one to usually find things predictable.) Given that this was such a quick read I'll be reading the follow up book and hope it's as fun as this one was.

Read this book in one sitting as with most other Rowen books. It was the perfect mix of mystery, introductions, romance, action, suspense, and yearning. It for sure left me wanting more. I'm half and half with the Rhys situation. Their meeting was cool, and I thought I saw some chemistry, but I can't tell if Rowen is setting up a love triangle or just another twist. Either way I'm sure it'll be good however I sort of think a triangle would make things more interesting, but Michael is so sweet that I don't want him to have ANY competition. I mean, seriously. He's a strong love interest and the forbidden angle certainly adds to it. I can see where his powers may start lagging in comparison to Nikki's which is where Rhys might gain an upper hand, but we won't know till the next addition. This is a series I'm totally stoked to follow. It's as serious as it is believable without over doing it. I loved every character and can't wait to see them again in Book 2.
All in all you wont regret buying this book. New, used. It won't matter. You'll love it. You'll read it more than once and it will for sure end up on YOUR keeper shelf.
Nikki Donovan just turned sixteen years old. If starting a new High School a few months prior wasn't bad enough, she just found out the father she never knew is a demon. And not just any demon, but demon king of the Shadowlands(a dimension between our world and the underworld.
So now Nikki must go to him so he can explain her new status as half demon princess, which puts her next in line for the throne. Plus she now has an assigned "shadow" AKA demon servant named Michael who happens to be very cute. Problem? Romance between Shadows and demons (or half-demons) is strictly forbidden. And Nikki is forming a serious crush on Michael. Being a half-demon, falling for a cute, but off-limits servant and finding out you are next in line to rule another dimension. And I thought MY teen years were hell! This first in a new series by paranormal romance author Michelle Rowen is sure to be a hit among teens as well as fans of her "Immortality Bites" series. After fiishing the last page ,my only disappintment is learning I have to wait till Spring of 2010 for the next installment! Demon Princess Reign or Shine is proof that Michelle Rowen, herself ranks among the "princesses" of paranormal romance.
