At first I didn't know what to expect when I picked up Autotherapy. I didn't bother to read the synopsis but knowing how great of a writer the author is, I decided to go in blind. This book is a different take on vampires and I loved that angle a lot. Sakina Murdock introduces the reader to scientific explanations. Along with beautiful descriptions of the environment and great dialogue, I found myself immersed in the world and I couldn't stop reading. The ending came off beautifully and I really enjoyed the book! It was worth the read!

Sakina Murdock's debut novel, "Autotherapy", keeps the mystery and
tension building up to a thrilling conclusion that will leave you
breathless.
-- Nate D. Burleigh, Author of "Sustenance"
What starts out as a tightly written police procedural mystery, quickly escalates into an intense thriller with a sci-fi/horror edge. Set in the moody hills of Cumbria, United Kingdom, equally moody detective Jake Campbell is faced with a series of gruesome murders with evidence that becomes increasingly strange. From decades-old bodies that still look half-alive, to very real corpses with their throats torn out, the coroner has his hands full. Yet darker things still lurk below the city in the old tunnels and caves, things that will ultimately test Campbell's will to live.
Murdock's characters are finely honed and tightly crafted, and the plot has great twists and turns leading down a dark tunnel to any inevitable, yet unforeseen conclusion. I look forward to more books by this author.
I've had Autotherapy on my reading list for a while now, and it took me a while to get to it, but when I started to read it, I couldn't put it down! Autotherapy by Sakina Murdock is one of those rare gems found only once in a while when it comes to vampires. It's not typical, it's not set in America, and we don't have to read about annoying teenage girls falling for vampires, because these vamps are kind of old-school. The book starts off a bit slow (mysteries always takes me longer to read for some reason), but it soon picks up speed and it turns into a riveting tale with some great explanations and some gory descriptions that's reminiscent of a 1960′s Hammer Horror Film set in the modern era. However, what I found the best of it all was not the vampires or the gore, but the imagery. Autotherapy pulled me into Cumbria, made me yearn to see it for myself, and yet the imagery made me feel like I've already traveled there. It takes a really special book to do that...
Autotherapy is a page-turner and the mystery builds towards a fantastic climax that suits the book perfectly. Frankly, it's a well-crafted and thoroughly thought out novel that will keep the audiences entertained for hours (or days depending on how fast you read), and the editing is really first class. At one point I was searching for errors to point out to, but it was so difficult to find anything wrong with it that the only thing that kind of dampened my mood of the book was the beginning (again, it's simply because mysteries in general don't intrigue me as much), but Autotherapy redeemed itself so quickly that I can't even point a finger at that.
I'm actually saddened by the fact that this is an indie book. Autotherapy could have easily been picked up by a big publisher or agent, because as far as debut novels go, this is really a fantastic read and should have been getting a lot more attention by the general public. In other words, it's a must-read, especially if you are looking for a thrilling book that'll give you a whole different perspective of the vampire race.

This book moves! I could not put it down! The characters are so engaging that I found myself desperate to know what would happen to them next. Are you looking for a novel that will give you chills and make you think? Here it is! I cannot wait to read more of Ms. Murdock's work!
I really liked the premise (vampires! hidden in a cave until an earthquake!). The book did try to "explain" scientifically the vampires, which I normally just hate (heck, just say it was a comet and move on), but the explanation didn't take away from the story. The story was well-paced. I found myself thinking someone should make this into a movie.
Sakina Murdock’s debut horror is a spookfest. A small Cumbrian town is victimized by a series of baffling murders, broken necks and exsanguination, all a terrible echo of a generations' old crime.
A well structured, action-packed, page turner, that keeps you guessing to the end. Creepy as all hell. Will raise gooseflesh on your back. A great read. Highly recommended.
Sakina Murdock delivers the entire package in this book; from realistic well developed characters to scientific evidence, she makes you believe in the unthinkable. The details in this book are amazing. A little town called Cumbria, located in the UK, comes to life on the pages; you can see it, smell it and practically touch it. This book will suck you in and spit you back out, making you feel as though you are being held hostage as you quickly turn the pages wanting to see what happens next.
